Volunteer Now

The Society benefits from a committed and selfless team of volunteers who give their time freely to support our members.

How you can Volunteer

We are always in need of additional volunteers to help in such tasks as:

Driving volunteers – Taking members to social clubs and activities that the Society organises.

Social Club volunteers – Assisting Society employees at the social activity groups. Responsibilities vary from making tea and coffee, communicating with the members, or helping with the monthly raffle.

Befriending volunteers – A volunteer visitor provides companionship via telephone or home visit, in an attempt to reduce isolation. If you are able to offer one of our members a weekly phone call/home visit to share stories and similar interests over a cuppa, then we would love to hear from you.

Fundraising volunteers – We are always appreciative of help with our fundraising activities. Fundraising volunteer roles vary from cake baking, arranging the collection of our charity collection tins, or assisting at fundraising events.

Charity Shop volunteers – Charity shop volunteers assist by pricing newly received donations, selling goods and general housekeeping of the shop.

Admin volunteers – Admin volunteers assist with a variety of administrative tasks, this could be phoning our members, data inputting, or assisting towards the Society newsletter.

Volunteer Gardeners – Gardeners help to keep the Society’s sensory garden clean and tidy.

Most of our volunteers give an hour or two a month, but we can use as much as you are willing to offer. Volunteers are encouraged to claim mileage, at 45p per mile. Any relevant expenses can also be claimed.

A Disclosure and Barring Service check and personal references are carried out on all new volunteers. If you would like to volunteer for the Society, please call or email the office.
