Our first Optelec clinic this year takes place on the 6th of March, where members will be able to meet with Ben Harrison, our new Optelec Consultant. Please note this clinic is fully booked but we can offer appointment slots for our following clinic on the 25th of September 2025. Our clinic days are very popular so please get in touch if you would like to attend. The appointments offer an opportunity to explore the latest products and technologies available from Optelec, for blind and partially sighted people. If you book an appointment, you will have an experienced consultant on hand to give advice, answer any questions you may have and gain hands-on experience with the products and technology that can assist with daily activities. Attendees are invited to bring along a family member or friend to their clinic appointment.
Products available to try out at the clinic days include the Ruby HD electronic handheld magnifier range. Larger electronic magnifier portables. Text-to-speech readers, OrCam Read 3, and OrCam My Eye Smart wearable reader. Desktops are available upon request.
Ben’s predecessor, Ed Teal, who members would have met at previous clinic appointments or the annual Hi Vis event, retired from Optelec at the end of 2024 after 27 years of service. The Society is very grateful for the support and advice given by Ed, to both members and staff, and for his time spent with us.
At the beginning of the year, we welcomed Ben Harrison, and we are very excited to continue the good work and supplier relationship with Ben. Ben has already met with staff and is looking forward to meeting Society members attending the clinic next month. Ben joins Optelec after working as an Optical Assistant for Specsavers and Dispensing Optician for Boots Opticians, so he brings with him a great variety of experience when it comes to caring for our eyes.
