On Saturday the 15th of March members of the Peeky Blinders book group met at Huntingdon Library for a second author talk with local author, Jim Kelly. We enjoyed it so much the first-time round back in October, and this time we were delighted to be invited to join the Reading Group Celebration for all Huntingdon Library’s reading groups. We got to hear about the ideas behind Jim’s books, how his writing career started and the various characters throughout the different series he has written.
In May, we will get to enjoy a second author talk, this time with another local author, Alison Bruce. If you’re interested in joining Peeky Blinders and would like to attend this talk, please contact the office. The talk will take place at Huntingdon Library on Tuesday 20th of May during our monthly Peeky Blinders meeting. Members are currently busy listening to various titles by Alison Bruce in preparation for the talk next month. If you would like to find out more about Alison and her books, check out her website https://www.alisonbruce.com/. Alison Bruce is the author of ten crime novels and two non-fiction titles.
We have planned ahead and chosen an audiobook ready to listen and discuss at the June meeting. Peeky Blinders have chosen The Women by Kristin Hannah. The Women will be discussed at the meeting on the 17th of June 2025.
Titles listened to this year include The English Fuhrer by Rory Clements which scored 4.5 out of 5, Murder Mile by Lynda La Plante scored 5 out of 5, and Apples Never Fall by Lianne Moriarty scored 3 out of 5.
If you enjoy listening to audiobooks and would like to join Peeky Blinders at our monthly meetings, please contact us. We would love to have more members attend our meetings and talks. Transport can be provided, if required, at a cost of £5 per session.
