On Sunday 8 March 2026, thousands of runners gathered for the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon, a stunning 13.1‑mile route winding through Cambridge’s historic streets, world‑famous University grounds, and beautiful green spaces. With musicians, cheer zones and spectators lining every mile, the city created an unforgettable atmosphere.
Among the runners was 17‑year‑old Ollie Dickson, who chose to take on the challenge to raise funds for our charity in honour of his mum, Zoe Dickson.

Ollie lives in Huntingdonshire and currently works as an apprentice on the Gardens Team at Trinity College, making this half marathon something of a run on his “home turf”. The course took him through the very grounds he helps maintain , a special touch that made the experience even more meaningful.
Ollie completed the race in an outstanding time of 1 hour, 42 minutes and 8 seconds, far surpassing his two‑hour goal. Speaking afterwards, he said:
“Much quicker than I thought I would be (I was aiming for just under 2 hours). Please do go ahead and share, and it is my pleasure to raise so much for you guys for what you do to help the local community.”

Why Ollie Chose to Run for Us
Ollie’s motivation to support our work comes from his family’s own experience. His mum, Zoe, has been supported by our charity in recent years following complex eye conditions and surgery.
She required treatment for a macular hole in one eye and vitreomacular traction and oedema in the other, resulting in permanent central sight loss in one eye. Having already undergone major eye surgery, she is likely to need further surgery in the future, including the development of surgical cataracts.
Ollie shared:
“As we live in Huntingdonshire, my Mum has been supported by Hunts Blind in recent years… It is great to know the charity will be there to support Mum again. I wanted to raise awareness about this wonderful local charity and help with their fundraising.”
A Celebration to Remember
Ollie has raised an incredible £2000 so far, and his enthusiasm on race day shone through, especially when he crossed the finish line with a brilliantly executed “golf shot” celebration. This playful moment was inspired by West Ham United footballer James Ward‑Prowse, whose signature celebration Ollie recreated in tribute to the club he supports.
